Moving from Boston to Columbia next month

Hey folks, I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $268,300, which seems about average. With a population of 127K, Columbia is a mid-size city. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Francisco about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..
