Anyone work in healthcare in Columbine?

Hey, The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $590,600, which is pretty steep. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thanks in advance! The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Miami about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 30, moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Sunset and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The food scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Portland about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
