Columbus is underrated, change my mind

So, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $182,300, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Would love some local perspective. Cheers.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely decent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Tampa about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in South for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The public transit scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.
