Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm single, late 20s, and It's a a smaller city city with about 51,104 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Has anyone dealt with this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in The Heights for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cultural scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much affordable but now it's hit or miss.

Background: I'm a contractor, 57, moved here 11 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Highland and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The job market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
