My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $1,224 for rent here. The median home value here is around $234,500, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Seattle about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been here 9 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Southern places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
