Not sure if this has been asked before, but Household incomes average around $74,957 in Columbus. You can expect to pay around $814 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Columbus? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The school system is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.
