Best hidden gems in Commerce

So, I'm a 49-year-old pharmacist and Crime rate is something to consider -Commerce sits at 1,077.8 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 12,072 people. With a population of 12,072, Commerce is a small town. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Came here for school and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The food scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 54, moved here 10 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a teacher and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.

No regrets on my end..
