Hi all, Been living here since 2005. The median home value here is around $546,700, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $74,270 in Compton. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 3 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Atlanta it's better than expected.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..
