Things that make Comstock Northwest unique

First post here. It's a a small town city with about 5,190 people. Median household income is $73,290, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 5,190, Comstock Northwest is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Let me know your thoughts. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 8 years. Moved from Minneapolis for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Rising rent and home prices. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
