My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider — Concord sits at 414.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $2,226 for rent here. Rent is about $2,226/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Let me know your thoughts. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I've lived in Oak Park for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is average
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The public transit is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
