How safe is Concord really?

I've been looking at the stats and Concord shows a violent crime rate of 414 per 100K which is above average. But stats don't always tell the full story. For people who actually live there — do you feel safe? Are there areas to avoid?

I'm especially interested in hearing from families with young kids.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Midtown and Southside are perfectly safe.
