Rent is about $1,365/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $84,752 in Concord. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 26, moved here 12 years ago from LA. I've lived in Old Town and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The school system situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
