Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Austin about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is average.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.
