Why I chose Conroe over bigger cities

So, I've been here for 20 years and Household incomes average around $75,245 in Conroe. The median home value here is around $283,100, which seems about average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The walkability scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
