Should I move to Contra Costa Centre or stay in Raleigh?
Hey everyone, With a population of 7,127, Contra Costa Centre is a small town. Median household income is $127,910, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Contra Costa Centre? The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 50, moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Riverside and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The safety situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
