Thinking about relocating to Conway from Indianapolis
The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $986 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 66,288 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thanks in advance! The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 53, moved here 5 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Cedar Grove and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The school system situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Indian.
