Moving to Conway for work -advice?

So, Crime rate is something to consider -Conway sits at 199.8 per 100K. With a population of 13,346, Conway is a small town. Rent is about $1,502/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Has anyone dealt with this? The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Boston it's decent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 26, moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in West and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The public transit situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
