Why I chose Conway over bigger cities
So, I'm originally from Tampa and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,082 people. Poverty rate is 15.1%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.
Pros:
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Homelessness issues downtown
Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
