Hey everyone, Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $58,141, which feels about average for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Sunset for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The walkability scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much established but now it's average.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I work in finance here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is challenging. Happy to answer more specific questions..
