Anyone else love living in Cookeville?

I work in real estate and Poverty rate is 15.6%, which is higher than I expected. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $885 for rent here. Homes are going for about $263,800 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much manageable but now it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
