Rent vs buy in Cookeville -what makes sense?

Random thought, We have two kids and Household incomes average around $48,501 in Cookeville. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Dallas about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..
