Hey folks, Just moved here 11 months ago and Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. The median home value here is around $287,200, which seems about average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Boston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..
