Random thought, I work in finance and Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,851 for rent here. Rent is about $1,851/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $525,300, which is pretty steep. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
