Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Corning sits at 265.7 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any help is appreciated.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Oak Park for 3 years. Moved from Atlanta for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is average - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Road conditions need improvement. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Boston it's tough.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
