Anyone else feel this way? We have two kids and Homes are going for about $197,100 on average. It's a a mid-size city city with about 317K people. Median household income is $66,325, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $66,325 in Corpus Christi. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I've lived in Riverside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The traffic scene is decent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..
