Rent prices in Corpus Christi getting crazy

Anyone else noticing rent going up fast in Corpus Christi? Over the last year, I feel like prices went up at least 10-15%. I'm paying $1230 for a 1BR which feels okay for the area.

Are there any neighborhoods that are still affordable? Thinking about moving to a cheaper area.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, there are good opportunities if you network.

Rent tip: look for places in winter. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Riverside and Old Town are perfectly safe.

If you can afford it, Lakewood is the best place to live. Period.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Don't sleep on Southside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Coming from Houston, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

As someone who moved here from Seattle, I can confirm most of this. The cost of living surprised me the most.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.

The job market has been improving lately. Several government companies moved in recently.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Northside and Northside are perfectly safe.
