My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much growing but now it's average.

I've been here 10 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is improving - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Urban sprawl is real. And weather can be frustrating.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The cultural scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
