Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $480,600, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Corvallis sits at 129.6 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 60,424 people. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any help is appreciated. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
