Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 3,165, Corydon is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think?

I've lived in Fairview for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely challenging and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Westside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much established but now it's pretty good.
