I've been here for 8 years and Household incomes average around $110,073 in Costa Mesa. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
