First post here. Am I wrong here? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great sushi places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The walkability is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
