Is Cottage Grove getting better or worse?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but With a population of 40,124, Cottage Grove is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $121,452 in Cottage Grove. Rent is about $1,644/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,644 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 6 years. Moved from Seattle for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Chain restaurants dominate. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
