Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and Rent is about $980/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $164,300, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs? TIA! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is improving in most areas.
