Moving to Council Bluffs -what should I know?

Hey, Homes are going for about $164,300 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much stable but now it's challenging.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in East for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a chef and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
