Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. With a population of 10,017, Country Club is a small town. Poverty rate is 11.4%, which is around average. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I work in finance here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is average. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
