Any advice would be great. Cheers. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The job market is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Sunset area are tough. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Riverside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Westside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- The job market scene is average
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

I've been here 6 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.

I work in consulting here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
