Affordable areas near Covina?

Hey, Military spouse here. Rent is about $1,839/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
