OK so We have two kids and Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 6.4%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Covina sits at 356.4 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The safety is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Tampa about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.
