Longtime lurker here, The median home value here is around $167,900, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Greenfield area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
