Poverty rate is 15.6%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $167,900 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely decent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Downtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is average.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Downtown area are solid. Kids love it here.

I work in healthcare here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is underrated. Definitely worth checking out..
