Hey everyone, I work in logistics and The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like sushi.

I've lived in Eastside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much competitive but now it's underrated.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
