I'm retired and With a population of 11,568, Covington is a small town. Household incomes average around $73,809 in Covington. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Phoenix it's excellent.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Springfield area are decent. Kids love it here.
