What I wish I knew before living in Craigsville

Been meaning to ask this. The median home value here is around $95,300, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $607 for rent here. Median household income is $28,718, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Craigsville sits at 453.0 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
Should I be concerned? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
