Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $47,892 in Crane. Rent is about $794/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I wrong here? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The walkability is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much pricey but now it's challenging.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is tough in most areas.
