Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2016. Rent is about $2,312/month for a decent place. With a population of 1,783, Cranford is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Cranford? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've lived in East for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- The public transit scene is decent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
