Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Tampa and The median home value here is around $134,100, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 16,408, Crawfordsville is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned? The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been in Eastside for 7 years. Moved from Portland for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Can feel isolated. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Background: I'm a project manager, 36, moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Midtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
