Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much competitive but now it's better than expected.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The community vibe scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Westside area are challenging. Kids love it here.
