Housing market in Cresskill right now

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What are your go-to spots? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much developing but now it's better than expected.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Midtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The school system is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 24, moved here 10 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Uptown and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The walkability situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
