Best neighborhoods to rent in Crestwood?

So, Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 6,275 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 13 years. Moved from San Francisco for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I work in education here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is better than expected. Happy to answer more specific questions..
