Working in Crete -salaries realistic?

Hey, Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $209,100 on average. With a population of 8,382, Crete is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,283 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 8,382 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Any help is appreciated. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
